Question:

Checkers Question?

I was playing checkers with a 7 year old boy. He really seemed to be making up his own rule as he went along. But I'm not sure. He told me that a star cannot jump a king. Which I've never heard of before. Then he also jumped his king four spaces to jump just one peice. Is it true that a star can't jump a king? when asked who taught him how to play he said "No one, I just know."

  1. huh?  "no one" taught him???

    gezzzz!  you got taken in.

  2. no that is false he was trying to fool you a star can so jump a king!!!!!!

  3. anything can jump anything and i bet who ever taught him told him he could do those stuff.

  4. Of course a star can jump a king. And you can't move a king 4 spaces just to jump something.

  5. lol, anything can jump anything.   Stars can only jump forward though.  Also kings can only move one space at a time, their only advantage is that they can move in any direction.

  6. He is wrong. A piece can only move one space diagonally unless it jumps over the other side's pieces. Regular pieces can only move forward. Kings can also move backward. A regular piece can jump a king. Jumping is required unless you make it optional before starting the game.

BTW: Don't argue with him. Bring a rule book along next time.
