Checking your cervix?

a few people have been saying thjat they can check their cervix....how? I thought you coudn't do that without a doctor...

"The best way to do it when hugely pregnant is to sit on the toilet with one foot on the floor and one up on the seat of the toilet. Put two fingers in and go back towards your bum. The cervix in a pregnant woman feels like your lips puckered up into a kiss. On a non-pregnant woman it feels like the end of your nose. When it is dilating, one finger slips intothe middle of the cervix easily (just like you could slide your finger into your mouth easily if you are puckered up for a kiss). As the dilation progresses the inside of that hole becomes more like a taught elastic band and by 5 cms dilated (5 fingerwidths) it is a perfect rubbery circle like one of those Mason jar rings that you use for canning, and about that thick.

well i spose if they new what it felt like and where it was anyone could do it. When a dr. checks your cervix they measure by how many fingers they can fit i believe, or something like that. so i spose anyone who knew how could do it. you don't need any special tools. just hands, well fingers

People usually check their cervix if they are planning to have a child and its the best way to find if the cervix is open to let the sperm in and also if they are ovulating as the cervix will be quite open at this stage.

You usually insert 2 fingers like you would if inserting a tampon, always making sure your hands are washed befoe you do this. When you put your middle finger inside you will feel a squishy type ball, it can be soft, medium or hard and it has a little hole in the middle that feels like a dimple. If the cervix is low you will be able to feel it quite easily but if the cervix is high most women cant even find it. I find the best way to do this is when Im sat on the toilet.

Its not good to start poking in there for no reason though, if you are trying to conceive then its a good way to find out when you could have s*x.

You cant,.....lol you have to go to an obgyn and get a pap done, to test for cervical cancer, STD's, and yeast infections. I do not know any way in which a person check their own cervix, special tools are used and samples from your cervix are sent to labs to be tested.
