Cheshire cat - alice in wonderland?

I need help making a cheshire cat costume. I was hoping for some ideas from you guys. So far I have black and pink striped tights for my legs and an extra set to stuff for a tail. I was going to wear a black skirt and a pink tee shirt and cat ears but I put it all on to check it out and it kinda sucks. Can anyone help me with ideas to make a sweet costume?

well firstly the cheshire cat is 2 shades of purple or pink and purple go on ebay or to costume stores to see how it looks....

the whole cat is striped so a striped shirt would help....

and the cat is kinda tubby....

the cheshire cat is like a purple and pinkish purple striped right? well get a pinkish shirt that is cheap and then wrap tape around it making stripes of tape and then with spray paint can of purple paint spray over the exposed fabric of the shirt to make the purple stripes on the pinkish shirt. then although you said you got pink and black striped tights maybe try to find cheap pink leggings that are similar to the shirt and also spray paint purple stripes the same way as you did to the shirt (with the tape and all). then wear a black skirt over them.

(then if you don't mind taking off makeup when you're tired and just wanna go to bed, lol) do face makeup in purple and pink too with whiskers too!

(if you decide to not do face makeup make whiskers out of black pipe cleaners and attach them to a ribbon to tie on then with a little black eyeliner, black eyeshadow or a non toxic marker color your nose black. ooh and do really pretty eye makeup like dramatic cat eyes with eyeliner)

more purple, face painting?, mabey put on a tail, or buy the tail and ears at a halloween store. if the ears are better there, sorry dont know. um..... try to be creative. good luck!
