I love my friend !

She lives in Chicago ,Chicago don't offer a lot programs to help disable& poor people.

she need beds for herself and children and she wanted to buy them from the good-wills, I did not want to hurt her feeling but I think that NASTY .

I got her one bed off my credit card, six month later she paid me back the money for the bed.

My question is to people who live in the Chicago area is there any programs out there that help disable&poor people with buy new beds, clothes ect

  1. yeah, she should call 311 and get the name and number of the Chicago Department of Human Services (CDHS) near her so she can be referred to different agencies in Chicago who help low income and disabled people.  She can also ask the 311 operator about the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) and what kinds of services they offer with getting furniture and clothes.  Maybe she can get a voucher.  They'll probably ask for her zip code and give her the name and number to an office in her neighborhood.  There are alot of programs in Chicago...especially for poor/disabled people w/children.  People donate good, CLEAN furniture, that gets shampooed again after they donate it.  They don't accept used, stained, torn furniture and mattresses.  She can also contact the Illinois Dept of Human Services to see what they offer.
