Child casket briefcase problem at work?

This guy at work I share a cubicle with made a comment about my briefcase saying it was too big and it looked like a child's casket. I was totally disgusted by vulgar comment and consulted our HR consultant over the problem but he thought it was funny and it spread it around the office. Now everyone makes fun of me and makes vulgar comments about my briefcase.

What should I do? I hate being harassed.

Should I just buy a new briefcase?

Should I quit my job?

Raise a complaint.

Firstly about the inappropriate comments about your briefcase and secondly about the HR person who should of treated your issue sensitively and confidentially.

They are creating a hostile work environment and that is against the law. You need to speak to the person above the HR consultant if you want real results.

Making you feel uncomfortable enough to want to leave your job is not right. People at all ages can be rude and not understand that certain things can offend certain people and since you never know what that could be you should act like an adult.

Well here's my opinion.  Besides the fact that people are calling your brief case a "child's casket," don't just quit your job because of one little thing going around the office.  I believe you need to confront your HR consultant again and your cubical partner and let them know your disapproval about it.  If worst comes to worst, then you could even threaten them by quitting, but that never goes over well, so I don't suggest it.

And it may help to buy a new briefcase or have one offhand.

you can hire a lawyer but it will affect your future big time
