Childcare element of tax credits?

will the childcare element apply if i used the creche at my gym for 5 hours a week as i just want her to socialise with other children. it is ofsted approved

  1. u need to make sure the creche has a official certificate for child care, otherwise child tax will not pay out anything. saying that child care element is mainly for people who need child care for work and not recreational purposes so i doubt they will consider the application


  2. doubtful. I cant get childcare element for my college nursery, even with my partner working as im classed as not working.

    So i doubt they are gunna pay so u can use the gym. Creches arent that expensive. Better than a day nursery

I would think that if you already receive tax credits, you don't need to tell them that the creche is for the benefit of socialising your child.   I would ring up the tax credits people - in my experience they've been pretty good on the phone.  If the creche is ofsted approved then I would of thought that would be OK.

  4. If it has a separate tax ID & will give you a document stating how much you pay specifically for child care there, then yes you can use it as a tax credit.
