  1. download and run a good antispyware product from http://www.geeksjunction.com to check your computer for spyware and adware.

  2. Do you mean pop-up advertisements? If so get a firewall or a pop up blocker.

  3. Did you recently install a program called Messenger Plus Live as an "add-on" to your MSN or Windows Live Messenger?  If so, the default install of Messenger Plus Live is bundled with a Trojan Swizzor malware which delievers CiD popups.

"Messenger Plus! comes with an optional adware program, that's all, and every user is free to refuse its installation during setup..."

    from: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/msgplus...

First, uninstall Messenger Plus using Add/Remove programs in your Control Panel. You do NOT need to uninstall the Windows or MSN Messenger itself. Uninstall anything that says CiD or sponser.

Second, do a full-system scan with your anti-spyware program. Don't have one?....Then scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no installed program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.

If CiD pop-ups still persist after doing the steps above, use the procedure here:

Just a hint....for the future...a reading of the TOS (Terms of Service) during the installation of software can often prevent this sort of problem.

    Good luck.
