Question:

Cigarettes in Paris?

I am a smoker, and will be in Paris for one month this summer. I know that I can only by a pack at a tabac, but I was wondering if they have Marlboro Ultra Lights there?

Also, and this is probably a silly question, but what should I say when I go to the tabac? I don't know how to say "pack of Marlboro Ultra Lights in french! Is it just "Je voudrais une paquette de Marlboro Ultra Lights????"

thanks!

  1. I've been told that Marlboros are the most popular brand of cigarettes in France.

However, I have never been able to find the Marlboro menthol light 100's that I smoke. It seems that regulars and full strength menthol Marlboros are the only variations sold.

I take as many cartons as I'll need (which can be a lot since I smoke 2 packs a day). While there is a theoretical limit of two cartons you can take thru customs, I've never had any problem taking as many as eight cartons.

  2. Pack a couple of cartons in your checked baggage.  But, everyone in Paris smokes; shouldn't be a problem buying cigarettes.  They are displayed similarly to the way as in a convenience store here.  It's a hard habit to stop; but you should try!  Good luck.

PS They are great animal lovers so don't be surprised if you see dogs in a restaurant, on the Metro or shopping.  I loved it!

  3. yup we have it in france ,and how to ask it ,just say "je voudrais un paquet de marlboro ultra light ,s'il vous plait"

  4. I'm not sure if they sell Ultra Lights there.  I smoke duMaurier and I took a couple of cartons with me when I went to Paris.

Have fun, its a great city on many levels.  Also, enjoy not being an outcast for being a smoker, smoking is a way of life in Paris.
