Civil War in Mexico right now?

I am supposed to be taking a big group down to Rosarito, Mexico for my birthday at the end of the month, but have been hearing about this Civil War/Drug War in Mexico right now. I'm trying to find out more info about what's going on if anyone knows more about the situation.

There is a small gang of punks that have been working that area.

They have not killed anyone yet but what they do is activate red lights and when you stop they take everything you have and leave you on the roadside.  This has happened as recently as last fall and to the best of my knowledge these "Cabrones" have not been apprehended.

Look for some reports on the area--tourism is down almost 50%

The two cartels are at war in the are and do not mean to harm tourists.

Two thousand five hundred murdered in T.J last year .These are facts.

You can go to Rosarito and have the best time in the world.

Of course not, just take the same precautions you would take for any other  trip and that´s it.

No civil war here, nop.

Just use your common sense to be safe, don't walk alone at night; don't go "home" with strangers; don't drink a mix beverage offered by someone, buy your own; etc.
