Cleaning a mattress?

does anyone know a way to clean a mattress? its not bad~ im a house guest *sort of* & trying to clean a mattress because my aunt has a son who lets his dog sleep with him.... now it smells of dog! i want to get that smell out before I have to sleep on it another night! i am the one having to do this since my aunt is sickly & im here helping take care of her, any help in this matter would be AWESOME! THANKS!!!

If you want to actually clean it, try upholstery cleaner, but apply just lightly to the surface, wipe it with a damp cloth, let it dry, and then vacuum.

If it's just the smell that's bothering you, use Febreeze (or a similar product) and let the mattress air out all day.

Then, use 2 fitted sheets on the mattress, one on top of the other.

I've got 3 dogs and I swear by Febreeze.  The dog-smell actually gets a little stronger just after you spray the product on, but as it dries the smell evaporates along with the spray!
