  1. yes bring one. worst comes to worst you sleep on top of it.  also some people decorate the rooms so non-flame candles are nice. a small throw rug is nice... a can opener!!!! a tie ((just in case you need one. I did MANY times and im a female))  your own trash can.

  2. Everyone brings a comforter though, its good to have it depends on your personal preference if you get hott at night and such but as it starts to get colder youll want it if your live in somewhere where summers are hott  winters are cold. you can always remove it if you dont want it, good to have though. Key thing to bring for your bed is look for the padding that almost looks like egg cartons they work great for college beds because if not their rough to sleep on with a matress pad on top

Im guessing if you type in Yahoo.com Or google for a checklist theyll give you a good idea of what to bring. you you need the average rug hamper storage baskets hangers etc etc

  3. yes, bring a comforter. almost all of the beds in dorms are plastic-feeling and metal springs. and nice sheets, not really cheap ones. also, silverware for snacking/eating while in the room.

  4. I would bring both. bring your comforter and a light weight blanket, when you get there if its stuffy and hot store it away in a closet or under your bed for when its cold or something

  5. Things you might forget that you'll wish you hadn't:

    flip-flops

    mattress pad

    travel mug

    book light

    mini-fridge

These are just a few ideas from Seventeen.com's college packing list. Check it out.

  6. The stuffy and hot part, to some extent, depends on how old the building is.  Some are that way all the time, some are that way some of the time, and some are never that way.  I'd go ahead and bring the comforter so you've got it if/when you need it unless you never normally like them.  Maybe get one of those nifty vacuum bags to put it in if it doesn't look like you're going to use it much so it doesn't take up so much space. . .although the no-vacuum-needed kind might be good unless you're bringing a small vacuum.  :)

I'm really not sure what else you haven't thought of -- nothing out of the ordinary is coming to mind for me, although it's been years since I was on-campus.  Maybe curtains and a rod if you want to make the place seem a bit less utiltarian and you don't already have such hardware up?  I recall getting a pair of the big easy-off sticky hooks years ago when they were a new idea and then hanging a rod on that.

  7. it depends my university has central air and it is always alittle cold plus when it is winter how warm do you think it will be?

  8. Bring a comforter if you normally sleep with one. Dorms don't get hot all the time, and you'll never know if you have a roommate that likes to keep the window open in the winter.. I had a down/combo comforter that i would sleep with in the fall and winter, and if i got hot i would kick it off. You want to feel as much at home in the dorm, so if you sleep with one at home, bring one to school..

  9. Dude just bring the comforter...it will get cold in a month or so...plus it can't hurt, you can just sleep on top of it...

  10. Well, are you going somewhere where it gets cold in the winter? If yes, you need a comforter. Colleges often don't turn the heat on until later in the fall to save money, so it gets chilly. If you get hot, just open a window and/or turn on a fan. (Be sure to bring a fan!!!) Even during the summer I use a comforter...it's just cozier!

Hmm..have you got a shower caddy and shower flip flops? A laundry bag? Febreeze? (your room might start to smell a little musty/funky); under-the-bed storage (and bed risers if you want this kind of storage); an extra lamp (the overhead lights often suck); supplies for putting up things on your walls (tape, etc.); one nice dress and pair of shoes in case there's a formal; a bathing suit for sunning yourself on the lawn/if you want to go swimming; baby wipes (good for taking off makeup, cleaning up spills; wiping down surfaces; etc.)

  11. Bring a comforter and a blanket. On hot nights you can use the blanket, and if it's cold use your comforter, that's what I'd do.
