If I am going to live on campus in NJ and still be a resident of NC do I need to change my car insurance. My dad said he wasn't sure and I have been looking to see if I could find an answer somewhere and I though someone here may know. Thank you in advanced.

  1. No, if you are going to NJ only for college, you don't have to change your license, registration or insurance.

However, if you are paying in-state tuition, you may be classified as a NJ resident, in which case you need to change everything over.

  2. there are alot of auto insurance companies that give discounts to college students. even more if you have good grades. so when signing up make sure to ask if they offer student discounts.

  3. Full time students are usually covered as if they were still living at home.  Check with your insurance company to be sure though.
