  1. Ignore Steve S.

You can get a college scholarship shooting in the mid 80s however it will be a fourth or one sixth scolarship for a crappy DI school. You can play college golf at nearly every level, but you gotta get good to get half and full scholarships. I would start playing in state association tournaments (I play on Illinois Junior Golf Association) and try as hard as you can to get better this summer. Don't play too many tournaments, just concentrate on getting better. Then, next year, going into junior year, amp up the tournaments and start playing AJGA's (only if you consistently shoot in the 70s) and if you play well you'll get attention and a scholarship. But, don't worry about tournaments yet, just concentrate on getting better because if you can shoot 66 every time you play, then you can go any where you want. PEOPLE WILL NOTICE YOU IF YOU'RE GREAT

  2. keep working on golf game but your grades get you scholarship.

  3. Your chances are good if you get your scores down and win some events.  Only major Division 1 schools will have the money to offer full scholarships for golf, but you can have a lot of fun and get an education at a Division II or III school.  I played D3 in college (no scholarship) and it was great fun.

  4. You better get it in the low 70's to earn a golf scholarship. Very few colleges offer good golf scholarships, so you better get lower than 72 tourny average to earn a 'good' one.

Some advice: Play in as many outside tournys you can .. gain as much experience as possible, get your name in the paper as much as possible, and start creating your golfing portfolio. College coaches will want to see one when you talk to them.

  5. Trust me, you wont get a golf scholarship at any school shooting in the mid 80's.  Grades arent that huge a deal as long as they're decent and you can play golf.  You'll need to display you can shoot competitive scores in competition at the junior level. The good news is you have 3 years to improve.  My main advice is this.  Make sure you go to a school that you can make the travelling team.  Only 5 guys travel and it will be the funnest 4 years of your life.
