Both and much more. It's a life-changing experience that you'll never forget. If you don't feel comfortable at the college you first go to, remember that you can always transfer. Give it a good year (or at least a semester if you really can't stand it). This will allow you the opportunity to determine if you made the wrong choice or if you're just suffering from homesickness.

Be open to new people and new experiences. Get to the know the town or city your school is in. Have fun. Be Safe. And don't forget to study.
