  1. Colliers Wood to Moorgate on the Northern line, change there for Amersham on the Metropolitan line, will cost £7 one way, cheaper with an oyster card, all info on www.thetube.com

  2. Can't find Colliers Wood, but from Wimbledon, it takes 1hr 39 mins, there appears to be a service every half an hour & costs £8.10 on a cheap day single for today: You can check & book at http://www.thetrainline.com

  3. http://www.transportdirect.info

  4. see my answer to how for find fares question heading cheap rail fares

  5. Take the Northern Line to Elephant & Castle, change there for the Bakerloo Line to Marylebone, and then take a Chiltern Railways train to Amersham.

The Cash Single fare for that is £7.00, or it's £5.50 on Oyster between 7am and 7pm Mondays to Fridays (excluding Bank Holidays), or £3.00 on Oyster at other times.

A Day Travelcard covering Amersham (Zone 9) would be £15.00 Peak (before 09:30 Mondays to Fridays, excluding Bank Holidays) and £8.20 Off-Peak.
