I purchased an HDR Fancy Raised Pro w/ Laced Reins - bridle. It is oakbark. Is this a color I can use on a chestnut with it looking nice? I am showing the hunter/jumpers, and I know turnout means a lot. So.. with that said would oakbark be appropriate, and what color leathers go with what color horses? Thanks :D. Also, what is the difference between raised and plain bridles?

  1. mostly all colors match a horses color tone but who cares any way if it matches?!  o' i know NO ONE!!!!!!!!

  2. raised have lik texture and plain are flat, raised is def more popular.  get whatever matches your saddle

  3. The lighter oil stuff really seems to be in style right now on most the circuits for H/J.  I would ask your tack shop that you're buying from what color is currently the most popular in your area, and stick with that.  Most colors will look good on any color horse (I think the hardest to match are the buckskins, grullas, those types of colors).  With a chestnut, you can get away with the darker oil, or the lighter one, but if you stick with light, and the fads change, you can darken it later.  Don't get black unless you're doing stuff like dressage.  The light browns are the way to go!  Raised bridles are a little fancier, and more popular....they just have a little more texture to them, and prettier stitching usually.

    Good luck!

  4. blues, greens and red look nice on chesnuts

  5. black looks good on all horses. If you are not sure get black. Also, if your saddle is going to be dark then it would match that better
