I just moved to a house. We got digital cable for 2 tvs, 1 HD receiver and 1 regular digital box. The HD receiver had recordings from the previous owner, some pornography actually. And the HD box sometimes does not work and is slow and alot of times it will give out a wavy type picture. Anyways i wanted to know how Comcast works with these things, do they just pull it out of someones house and bring it to you, or is there a refurbishing process. Can i get a new box?

  1. First, enjoy the p**n :P...lol. Then, call Comcast. 1-888-COMCAST & tell them the problem. They're usually pretty good on handling problems like that. Like any other company they're probably trying to use what they have, then if needed, they put in a new device.

  2. Any cable box is supposed to be returned to warehouse for a checkup, cleaning, and any DVR cable box is supposed to be wiped clean...the most likely scenario is if you were installed by a tech or picked up box at Service Center, someone got lazy and did not want to process an equipment return, or they ran out of DVR's and used what was on hand...which they are not supposed to do b/c ALL equipment is supposed to be inspected before put back in circulation. What I suggest you do is call Comcast, and have then "Initialize" your box, this will reset it and wipe out the harddrive, you would need to leave it on, and let it sit for 1 hour. If you have already saved recordings this will wipe them out though. Or just delete whats on there.
