What kind of fuel that jet engines use? and how much does it cost per gallon?

  1. Jet A prices are crazy. What kills me is that some of these fbos are selling it for double what they are paying for it!! Kills me that Jet A is going for $7 and up in some places!!


  2. At my airline (large Part 121) we pay between $3.50 and about $4.25 per gallon.

    The prices are always listen on our dispatch release for planning purposes and sometimes we pay attention to that stuff :)

It is called Jet A.  Cost varies a lot.  I read that the average price for airlines is around $4.50 a gallon.  Some pay more or less depending on what they have set up with their contractors (or fuel hedges) and what part of the world they are in.  On the corporate side, I have saw jet fuel in some places higher than $9.00 per gallon and would guess that the corporate average is around $6.00 per gallon.
