what are some community projects that can help the citizens? global warming, fund raisers, support for the troops, etc.???

specific ideas please????

It would be worthwhile to find what are your interests. if you are interested in downing global warming, then there are some NGOs who are doing such work. Join them. If you are interested in fund raising (that gives an opportunity to meet new people(donors), that helps you get at the bottom of your conviction about the things for which you are raising funds) then join the NGOs that are newly established and do not have much financial support yet.One such NGO is SCOPE based in Maharashtra. SCOPE is an acronym for:

Society for Community Organisation & Progressive Education.

At the end of the profile page you will find the address and email of the person. Contact him. This NGO also works for upliftment of women, child education, Mother & Child health, Environment preservation(global warming).

You can work with and help out the elderly.  Mow their lawns, do repairs around their homes, etc...  Call your local Aging Services.  

Volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and help with the fund raisers they have.

If you have an army base or other in your town call them and ask what the soldiers are needing then get with your neighbors to send them a box.
