  1. I commute daily on my motorcycle. I wear safety gear because cagers don't pay attention to anything except maybe their cell phones and coffee. I ride because it's fun, relaxing, fuel efficient and easy to park. I get better mileage than a Prius, accelerate faster than a Corvette. Bikes are not cheap. Go to a dealer and look at the prices.

I think my co-workers that ride look smart in their gear. Take some time to learn about bikes and bikers. Try going for a ride with someone. It's not for everyone but those of us that do love it. If more people rode motorcycles there would be less pollution, traffic congestion and parking issues. By the way motorcycles with one rider are allowed in HOV lanes by federal law as a reflection to the motorcycles contribution to decreasing gas usage and traffic congestion.

  2. Actually its a lesson in economics........how weird can you be if your saving 50 to 100 dollars a month by putting on a little extra gear and riding a form of transportation that nw days is more reliable han a car

  3. It's my opinion that 99% of those riding a M/C to work do it because they  love motorcycles and riding, and 1% are trying to save money.

I rode to work for many years off and on, mainly because I hate traffic slowdowns, and loved annoying drivers in cars stuck waiting for hours.

  4. There are several good reasons

To save gas, because they are concerned about the environment.

But mainly riding motorcycles is FUN.

However, riding a motorcycle can be cold. The rider is exposed to the weather. So people wear funny looking clothes to stay warm.

Most people are not poor. They ride because it makes them feel free. Please walk into your local motorcycle dealer and tell me that poor people can afford motorcycles. Even scooters are becoming expensive.

The best way to understand would be to find community college that offers a weekend motorcycle course and they provide motorcycles to ride. Take the course, it should be a fun experience for you.

  5. Hi I ride a motorcycle to work and I also have a mercedes.  But you are right that some ride bikes because they are poor or lack of money but there are more reasons too.  Here they are.

    1. The thrill

    2. Economy

    3. They like the freedom

In my case I had never owned a motorcycle but always wanted too.  My mercedes eats up gas like its going outta style so I had a good idea.

I leave my car at work most days but my looooooooooong commute to work I take my motorcycle.  Then when I am at work I drive my mercedes to see clients and can be all prestigious he he while saving literally hundreds of dollars per week.

You would be surprised at how expensive motorcycles are!

They have motorcycles that are more expensive than my mercedes.

There is something awesome about riding a motorycle, me being a new rider and all.  You see the world differently and not to sound cheesy but it looks more beautiful in a way.  For example there is a train track where I ride to work and an open field that in a car I never really noticed how gorgeous it was , oh God now I am sounding cheesy lol but its so true.

Its like a whole new world that only motorcycle riders know of.  This is probably why when you see another biker they wave to you as you are part of a world that most people wont see.

If you ever ride a bike, not on the back of one but actually ride it, you will see.

Imagine this.  Sitting on the bike, flipping the ignition, shifting into gear and feeling the rush of air stronger and stronger as you go faster and faster.  Not having to wait in bumper to bumper traffic but being the first in line at EVERY light.

Not having to wait in bumper to bumper freeway traffic.

It is like a gorgeous work of art or a painting but you can actually get on it and become one with it and become the work of art.  See the links below and you'll see.

Saving tons of dough on gas and looking cool while doing it.  Check out these photos below and see what I mean...but now you got me so worked up I'm gonna go ride.  Bye :-)

  6. I find riding a motorcycle both refreshing and thrifty. The more protective gear the better. If folks think they look weird they should try looking at a mangled body. Thats weird!

  7. I don't think so. Riding motorcycle can make us feel freedom. It is a kind of life. And we must see that some motorcyclists are not poor. I meet many friends on a site called bikerkiss. They say they riding bike not because they are poor, but because it is a kind of life.

  8. First off, just because someone rides a motorcycle, doesnt mean they are poor. I have three cars and a motorcycle. Some days i feel like riding my bike to work. I wear gear due to cagers who dont pay attention when driving. Gear is the only protection against you and the concrete.
