They are both on planet earth. Since spanish has infiltrated a lot of philipino languages you could say that both languages have latin influence.  They are both predominately catholic.  Both countries are democracys.

Other than that, I see no other similarities between a white country in Western Europe and an Asian Island nation in the tropics.  There are few simliarities with regard to food, economy or history.
