  1. in a capitalist society, the bourgeoisie(ruling class) is the owner of the means of production while the proletariat(ruled class) provides the labor for production. This is where Marx's view of exploitation and alienation comes in. Exploitation- proletariat provides cheap labor and the bourgeoisie decides on how to use the products produced. Alienation- the proletariat are not able to work their full potential because they are given harsh environments that are at times 'mechanical'.

in a socialist society, the bourgeoisie  are overthrown and the proletariat then holds the means of production. They decide on how to used what is produced that's why there is always enough for everyone.

  2. Socialism refers to the goal of a socio-economic system in which property and the distribution of wealth are subject to control by the community. As an economic system, socialism is often characterized by collective ownership of the means of production. Since the distribution of wealth is controlled as a whole, and not individually, socialism has been identified with communism.

Capitalism is a an economic system in which all property is owned by either private individuals or a corporation. Private ownership is sometimes used as a synonym for individual ownership, however the term "private" may also be used to refer to collective ownership of individuals in the form of corporate ownership. Therefore, "privately owned" in the context of this definition means not owned or controlled by the state. It is usually considered to involve the right of individuals and corporations to trade, using money, in goods, services (including finance), labor and land
