Comparisons with the EU?

Looking at the EU, it appears to be shaping up in the same way countries like the USA and Australia have done. What do you think are some of the similarities, and will the EU end up like Australia etc?

EU will become progressive with its trust in imitating what the US and Australia did to their system.

the EU is and will be nothing like the USA or Australia.  in these to countries the citizens vote for the leaders, the EU wull no allow this. leaders are appointed by the council in secret.

laws are made in secret by special groups,  so first off there is NO democracy. No citizen will be allowed to legally protest against the EU. no member of the European parliament has any power or authority to propose or try to get passed any law, they may only suggest it . then it wull be done is secret.  a suject of the EU can be held up to 4 years in jail with out A TRIAL OR SEEING A JUDGE.  habius corpus wull be abolished as of    01/ 01/2009 .. these are just a few things not like the USA and Austrailia

The US was centuries ahead of the EU. We have 50 independently governed states united under a federal umbrella. Citizens can freely come and go within the states and we all share the same currency. So the EU just copied our model.

I think the EU sees itself as a quasi United States of Europe.

While this will be relatively popular while all the states laws become compatible, individual nations will soon (just as their subjects already are) become intolerant of EU-wide policies, in a similar way to many US states disliking federal involvement in their business.
