Computer Memory question (not RAM)?

Ok, I want to get this terabyte internal hard drive. And I see these Hard Drive enclosures out there. Bcuz I have this old *** dell, I always leave it on for days downloading stuff. But because it has a limited 80 gig hard dirve. I would like to have one of those things that turns your internal hard drive into a usb hard drive (or you can call it a external hard drive). But I also want to use that hard drive as a boot device (i am dual booting) So would it be possible to use that Vista hard drive as an external? And when i want to use it as an internal, can i just remove the enclosure and out it back?

Sorry for being confusing. But basically, I am getting an internal terabyte hard drive. I am going to install Vista onto it. I want to get this thing called a hard drive enclosure which converts it into a firewire compatible hard drive, which makes it an external. But 2 problems I am facing is:

1) Do those kind of hard drives enclosures exist?

2) Can I change that hard drive back and forth to external and internal?

  1. If you're going to do change it back and forth, then you might mess up your hard drive. You should use the hard drive enclosure if you REALLY know what you're doing. Or have someone that you trust do it for you (that knows what he/she is doing).

  2. You can get almost any enclosure (newegg.com) and swapping is not an issue, but you can't boot directly from an external drive unless you have a mac, or are using esata.
