  1. You may need more memory (RAM), not disk.  Depending on the operating system, XP requires 1GB.  I've been told that Vista requires around 2GB.

    You can go to:

    http://www.crucial.com

a memory manufacturer.  On that page you'll find a utility that will scan your computer, tell you how much memory you have, and make recommendations for upgrade.

    Good luck!

  2. Hi Dear,

    I understand your concern,

First please check how much memory you have by right click ;My computer'  Properties. then are you running any Antivirus program or some other software which is eating memory ?

if not then it is time to upgrade the computer physical memory which is not a hard drive. There are lot of places on internet like newegg, buy.com where you can buy memory particularly for your computer..

now what if you can not afford a new physical memory,

I would suggest go to my computer (right click) then properties and increase the swap space or make it maintained by system. I think you should find this option in Performance tab ..

then it may ask you to reboot system. do it first- reboot

then see if this helps in performance

Also running a spyware remover like adware spyware remover will also be a good idea in order to remove cookies and malware on system.

    Good luck

  4. It sounds like you need to get an antivirus program,  I prefer Norton.  What you need to do is to insert the CD/DVD when you get it and run the virus scan from the disc, it should do it as part of the install anyway.  The next thing to do is to run defrag.  If you are running windows XP, you should go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/disk defragmenter.  If you have a virus installing more RAM won't help because the virus will just multiply to take up the extra RAM.  Don't trust antivirus software you get over the internet because you never know there were a lot of people on here saying they got some antivirus software of the internet and it was a virus.

  5. Let's agree on some terms:

    (1) 'RAM' (Random Access Memory) is best described as 'memory'.

    (2) 'Hard drive capacity' is best described as 'storage'.

If you're using Microsoft Windows XP, your computer will run better if it has 512 MB of RAM or more.

If you're using Microsoft Windows Vista, your computer will run better if it has 2 GB of RAM or more.

Deleting "every friggen file" is okay, if the files that you've deleted resided in your Windows User Profile.

Deleting programs is not a good idea.  Rather, you should uninstall them so that references to those programs in the Windows Registry don't become problematic residue.

Computing decisions based on wrath or desperation seldom (if ever) produce the desired effect.  The frustration that a slow-running computer causes for an unsavvy computer user usually results in rash reactions.  This is not wholly the fault of the unsavvy user, but it is a problem that must be recognized and dealt with by the computer user.

If you can endure the aggravation, open Notepad and type exactly what the pop-up notification says.  Then, copy/paste what you've typed in Notepad into your question so that a better solution to the problem can be rendered.

In the meantime, if your video display color-depth is set at 32-bit, you might tune it down to 16-bit (if you can endure the lower color-rendering).

If your monitor is 3:4, and the resolution is set higher than 1024 x 768, you might tune that down to 1024 x 768 (I personally can't tolerate anything lower than that setting, but you can set it to 800 x 600 if you can endure it).

Naturally, the more applets you run down in the System Tray, the more RAM and processing power is used.  Try reducing the number of programs that start with Windows (Instant Messengers, printer-based imaging software, weather-notifiers, etc.).

After all the suggestions above, make sure that your Internet security suite is fully updated (or, if you're using individual free [gratis] 'security' programs like AVG Free, Spybot SnD, SUPERAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware, ZoneAlarm, etc., make sure those are up-to-date) and run a thorough scan of your computer with your Internet security suite (or programs).

And if none of the annoying tasks above help, you might also try the CrapCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com (using it's default settings) to clean up the detritus in your Windows Registry.  And, as a last resort, try using NTRegOpt (Google is your friend).

After all the preceding, if your computer still runs slowly, buy more RAM and install it on the computer's motherboard.  It's not difficult to install RAM.  If I can do it, anyone else with two functioning hands and a s***w-driver can do it too.

  6. Its time for you to decide! Either upgrade your computer or buy a new one!!!!

And if u buy a new one and dont want to lose your files u can upload then to megaupload or file den and then download them to your new pc

  7. you can restore your hard drive with the recovery cd if you have one, so that its completely  clean and your computer will run fine again.  BUT MAKE SURE to back up any important files you might have on a seperate hard drive (such as pictures, movies, important documents, etc.)

  8. my computer used to be like that we had to up grade it so we got at&t and now its so fast. But i would say buy like a scan to scan your computer for viruses and also you know your memery box thing. where you can enter the disk and stuff. Clean the fan in that because if it doesnt move fast niether will your computer.

  9. I think your RAM is the problem, you should upgrade it!
