Computer Science or Criminal Justice Major?

-I like computers, but I hate science and decent in math I am decent with history (though dislike it), but I am pretty bad at english too (love reading, hate writing). I heard it pays well (I want to find a career that I can support myself fiancially), but worried about outsourcing. I am insecure about handling the courses. I am worried though that the job will get to boring, and uninteresting. I don't mind sitting at a computer at home, but I have doubts of working on a computer all day without human contact. I also hate business related things. My mom thinks I should do this job.

-I love mysteries, though those are all fiction. I don't like seeing blood, and I am not very aggressive or tough. But I head it pays a lot less, but I feel I won't be doing the same think everyday. I have encountered bad cops in the past, and I am not physically active (though I would like to be). But I don't want to work in a small police department (If I could) and I think my intelligence is larger than the average cop. My father thinks I should do this, but my mother and siblings doubt my ability.

What should I do? Are there any people who have major (or majoring) in any of these? Can I recieve advice?

Could you do both? There is a major need for people in the justice system with technical skills. You could do computer forensics, security etc..

You won't be sitting at a pc all day without human contact. Maybe some days depending what you do, but there is a lot of customer and business analyst interaction when developing software.  Don't worry about outsource, its really not that bad if you get in a decent position. Mostly outsourcing is help desk stuff which you won't want to do anyway.

Computer science major can get tons and tons of great jobs. Ultimately do what you enjoy. Just know that computer science isn't playing with computers. Its coding, Creating algorithms, writing OS kernals, etc.. If you don't love it, you will hate it. You have to be able to jumble 20 abstract ideas in your head all at once while keeping track of where data is going, coming from and so on.

You will definitely need english skills in any job, so work on that. Written an verbal communication is a huge plus in any job.

Don't worry about what your parents want, do what you want.

Computer science is all about programming. All day all night. It also requires a LOT of math, even as a minor you have to take a ridiculous amount of math. The work is absolutely boring as well as tedious. I loved computers ever since I was 2, but now I don't really even use one at home and despise computer science :P Granted I had already done 3 years of college level courses before I even went to college but it just got worse from there. I'm a web admin for a university because of my experience in computer science but I haven't even finished my degree, I'm actually switching to GIS.

Criminal justice doesn't mean that you have to be a cop. There are lots of different applications of criminal justice, from working at a law office to being a contact auditor. You could even be a researcher. It does pay less than computer science but it is a lot less tedious. I don't understand why your mom and siblings would doubt your ability to do criminal justice yet think you could do computer science, that makes absolutely no sense.

Also those are just 2 majors, you don't have to do one of the 2 that your parents want do you? There are toooons of majors to choose from, just look in your university's catalog, speak with a counselor to help you decide what's best for you and choose one that you find interesting.
