Computer Technical Help?

Here's the deal, I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop and I can't log onto the account. A buddy of mine gave it to me and I don't know the previous persons password and neither does my buddy so I'm kinda stuck. Is there anyway I could get into it?

Search UBCD4WIN in google. It is a linux live cd that you boot your computer from. In the OS there is a program that can reset windows user account passwords. The best thing of all is it is absolutely free and the entire procedure will take you less than 10 minutes. if your handy and can find the cmos battery on the motherboard. remove that for about 1 minute and then replace it, see if you can create a password then, you may also have to go into bois and reset the time and date etc. A phoe call to Dell may help too?
