Question:

Computer Virus Troubles!

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I accidentally unleashed a virus on my computer. Luckily, Windows Defender caught the virus and attempted to block it. However, it says "VIRUS ALERT!" on my clock and I have no access to my C drive, All Programs, Control Panel, Run, nor any of the vital software needed to restore my system. What do I do? I need help urgently. (I know that the C: drive and all the files exist because my computer can load normally, but I cannot access many programs. Also, Windows Defender's icon has disappeared.) Please help!

  1. If you still have access to the internet, try downloading SUPERAntispyware and preform a complete scan.

This gets rid of allot of nasty malware/ad-ware & might help your situation.

Lavasoft Ad-AwareSE works well as a secondary fix.

    Both are FREE.

  2. Use another PC to download Clamwin anti-virus and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.

    http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/c...

    Update the anti-virus definition files.

Set the preference to delete virus or move virus to a quarantine folder

Boot up in safe mode on infected PC

Disable system restore on your infected PC if possible

Use the USB drive with Clamwin Anti-virus installed to scan your infected PC.

First scan your USB thumb drive and memory for virus.

Later scan all your hard drives for viruses.
