Computer editing software?

Question

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone knows a good "free" program for video editing.

Specifically for taking individual parts from a downloaded movie or your own persona videos and uploading to you tube.

Or for kinda making your own little home movies.

My O.S. is vista.

Any suggestions would be nice.
