Question:

Concrete drive repair or repour?

My concrete driveway is starting to look old. There are no cracks or large holes. Small stone size holes have started to appear this year.

Could the driveway be resurfaced or does it have to removed and re poured?

  1. Your driveway is in good shape compared to a lot of others.

You can clean it good and then install a top coating of several cement based products. "Thoro" brand products are very good.

This is a thin layer that you can apply over existing concrete and then use a broom to give it a uniform look.

It's best to patch the small pitted areas first. Use a bonding agent called "Thorobond", use a small paint brush and brush this liquid in the indentations, let dry. Now fill those small pits with a Thoro product called Thoropatch. Now you have a smooth surface that you can recoat with "Thorocrete".

    There are other brands also.

It is very expensive to bust up and load up old concrete. About $2 per square foot including hauling away. Then to place new concrete is about $3.00 to $4.00 per square foot-this includes concrete and labor to place and finish it.

  2. As long as there are no cracks you can get it resurfaced or they have stamped concrete to make it look like bricks or cobblestone.
