Confusing my son?!?!?

My boyfriend and I call our son Cj ( he is names after is father) and people tell us calling him by his nickname is not good to do, because he'll be confused when we call him my his first name. When I do come my son by his name, my boyfriend thinks I am talking to him. We gotten so use to calling him Cj, we didnt think about if he would be confused if someone called him my his first name.

What do you think what this situation?

My husband and I teach snowmobiling safety to teens, and we had one boy in the class last winter who didn't even know his name was "David James", he had always been called DJ, so the poor kid just sat there silent when I asked if David James was there - he was laughed at by the rest of the class for not knowing his own name!

Do the kid a favour, make sure he knows what is name really is, even if you use CJ most of the time as he really should know what his name is.

call him want you want to.  he will learn what his first name is

my son first name is james, like his father.  we call him by his middle name, which is jeremiah.  he will eventually know when we tell him that his first name is actually james

People need to stop telling other people out to raise their children; and let the parents be parents.  It is fine to call your son CJ. He won't be confused.  You may want to explain to him as he gets older that you're legal name is____________ and if anyone calls you by your first name it is perfectly fine to ask them to please call me CJ.

It is fine call him by his nick name so your boyfriend won't confused. Whatever those other people are saying isn't right. He wouldn't be confused unless there is another person in class with that name.

he wont be confused especially when he gets older.  what even somewhat intellegent person does not understand a real name and a nickname?  your son will get it, do whatever is easiest

your son will not be confused. There are many people with nicknames. Once upon a time many many years ago when I was in school, the first day of school with a new teacher they would always ask our given name then ask if we had a nickname we preferred to go by. Boys especially because so many are named after their fathers, therefor they either went by the nickname Junior, or initials, like your son. CJ is a lot better than "Little Charlie (example), or Charlie Boy. What ever nickname you start with is the name he will be stuck with.
