Confusing weather forecast?

For Sandusky Ohio on Sunday, June 29:

When I go to my Weather Channel on my computer, it says isolated thunderstorms for that day. When I go to AccuWeather on my cell phone, it says sunny with a mix of clouds for that day. I have inserted the same zip code, 44870, for both weather forecasts and yes I am looking at the right day. I am planning a day trip to Cedar Point so I am trying to get an idea of what the weather will be, but how am I supposed to when there are two different forecasts?

What's up with that?

Considering that the weather is extremely difficult to predict with precise accuracy, it is easy to see how two forecasters could have different forecasts. I looked over the forecast models and I would say that there will be a slight chance of thunderstorms developing over your area of northwestern Ohio. The better chance of storms will be well east of you. The atmosphere will not be all that unstable, but there is enough upper air support and moisture for isolated thunderstorms to develop. The best chance for thunderstorms will be before 2 PM.

To be honest, I do not like Accuweather all that much. I have found them to be quite inaccurate on several occasions. The Weather Channel is ok, but they have a good chance of being inaccurate being there are only a handful of meteorologists that can do the forecast for the entire country. The Natioal Weather Service would be your best bet for finding accurate forecasts. They have offices placed all over the country and have the best knowledge and experience when it comes to forecasting.

well both of them are somewhat right. Isolated thunderstorms mean that only a couple places will see them, and they won't be long lasting. I wouldn't cancel your plans.

There is nothing confusing about this. These clowns have no idea what the weather is going to be so they just make it up. Partly sunny, partly cloudy - chance of rain is my favorite. Want to know the weather - look out the window. Go to Cedar Point and have a blast - rain or shine !!
