Connecting switch an half switched receptacle?

My switch has a 2 conductor and 3 conductor cable. The receptacle has two 3 conductor cables. I want to half switch the receptacle and the next receptacle in the circuit.

In the switch, I have the grounded wires connected. I have the red and black wire from 3 conductor cable hooked to top of switch, the 2 white wires pigtailed, and the black wire from 2 conductor cable to bottom of switch.

Right now the switch turns on both the top and bottom receptacle even though I broke the tab. How do I hook up the wires in the receptacle so only one is hot? Also, the wires continue on to another receptacle that I want half switched.

At the switch:

The 2 conductor cable at the switch should be coming from the circuit breaker box or from the previous receptacle in the circuit. The 3 conductor cable should be going to the first switched receptacle.

Connect the black wires from both cables to the top of the switch. Connect the red wire to the bottom of the switch. Connect the white wires from both cables to each other only.

At the first receptacle:

One 3 conductor cable should be coming from the switch. One 3 conductor should be going to the next receptacle.

Connect the white wires from each cable to the common terminal of the receptacle. Connect the black wires from each cable to the receptacle that you don't want to be switched. Connect the red wires from each cable to the outlet that you do want to be switched.

At the second receptacle:

There should be a 3 conductor cable coming from the first outlet. There may be a 2 conductor cable going to another receptacle or switch.

Connect the white wire(s) to the common side of the receptacle. Connect the black wire (s) to the receptacle that you don't want to be switched. Connect the red wire to the receptacle that you do want to be switched.
