Connecting via cable broadband

Question

I am trying to fix someone's internet connection and am having some difficulty getting rid of the ip settings. The old connection was DSL and now using cable.

I deleted the old connections and built a new one. It tells me its connected but cannot bring up the internet.

Using ipconfig /release all/renew is not working. The release works but when trying to renew I am getting a timeout error.

any ideas?
