Conservation International is one source.  The link is to their library. The Ecology and Society site is less accessible but still a good one, and finally, The Wilderness Society.  They've been at it since since 1935, and have helped protect more than 105 million acres of America's wildest places.  Approximately 75% of the funds they receive are used directly for conservation.

I think one of the best sites you can go to that looks at conservation from a number of levels is that of The Nature Conservancy (see link below).

They have a well established and proven track record of supporting and engaging in high success conservation programs and efforts.
