Question:

Contacs are hard to put in?

Okay, so I'm tired of wearing glasses and have tried contacts 3 times before. So far, I've had horrible luck with contacts. It took me over an hour each time, and yet I STILL couldn't get even one contact in! My eyes keep on closing whenever I try. I try really hard, and it's so frustrating that I can't even get one in. I have touched one of my eyes before without the contacts, but it wasn't easy. My eyes are kind of sensitive, so each time the doctor gives me soft lenses. I'm going to try contacts AGAIN for the FOURTH TIME next week. I REALLY want to get them in!

Help please?

  1. I can totally empathize with this one.  It took me about five times before I was able to insert and remove my contacts.  My doctor would not even give them to me until I was able to.  I know I described my experiences on a previous Yahoo answers question, but I can't seem to find it.  I'll try to find it later today and post more.

I also purchased a soft lens inserting tool call the DMV soft lens handler.  It makes inserting and removing contact lenses so much easier.  I use it everyday.  It can be ordered easily on amazon.com and it not very expensive.

Another thing that helped me was practicing touching my eyes without lenses so I would not be as afraid to do so.  I'll try to provide some more information later.

  2. I recently had contacts and they were a pain to get in, took me 4 attempts. A bit of advice I can give to you is to practice holding back your eyelids and pretend to insert the lens into your eye without the lens actually being there. Also hold your eyelids back firmly, and try to keep calm. Keeping your fingers dry also helps, as it may prevent the eyelids from slipping from your hold.
