I grew up on rock music and rock guitar, playing since I was ten. I then was introduced to jazz in high school, where I liked, not loved it. Now, I love it. I am in the process of starting piano lessons at the local conservatory of music, and I am wondering how hard it would be to become great at piano while continuing to play rock on my guitar. basically, I still love rock. I grew up on it, and can't abandon it. lately, I've been jamming on my guitar, and then I'll go try to teach myself piano. I am getting lessons in a couple weeks. What do you think?

  1. Its a good idea.  Playing guitar gives you some virtues that make your guitar playing better while piano gives you some virtues that make your guitar playing better.  Its always good to learn more than one instrument

  2. it's a great idea to play both, a lot of great musicians play a lot of different instruments, and they're cool =)

  3. No reason to separate the two instruments or the two genres. You are the musician you are, if you love jazz and rock then do both at the same time. We shouldn't confine ourselves with labels.

  4. As a musician,

You are doing the right thing. Continue Guitar and continue learning piano. They are two different instruments that will do very good for you. Its also a great experience.

  5. hey piano will expand your expertise in music go for it
