Converter Box / DVD Recorder

Question

I'm trying to hook my DVD recorder to the new converter box for digital TV with an antenna. I got the converter box working with the TV, but I can't get input to go to my DVD to record anything. I have the antenna coming into the converter box, then the antenna going out of the box and into the DVD recorder, and then out of the DVD and into the TV. Do I by chance need some splitter? I'm technically challenged so make it simple!
