I am eighteen. One-two months ago I started having abdominal pains. The pain is specific to a particular region, and is sometimes of the acute variety, as though I'm being stabbed, and at other times, it's tingly and prickly, like when you deny blood circulation to an appendage.
The time I began developing this pain coincides with when my mother began making copious amounts of soup for me to eat. She uses a cast iron pan, tub, bowl, wtfever it's called with enamel coating, so there's no possibility for lead there, is there? In eithercase, lead is introduced into the equation in that she stores the leftovers in glazed, ceramic bowls, usually colored red or green. As of late, it's been shown that many - well rather, MOST - of glazed ceramic dinnerware is contaminated with lead.
Could lead be migrating into my food, wherefrom it's getting into my body? One of the first symptoms of lead poisoning is, as I understand it, abdominal pain. Can anyone tell me of any other symptoms to look out for?
I went to the doctor today for the pain. They had me pee in a cup to test my urine for all of the basics, and it was normal. The doctor wants me to have an ultrasound, but I'm pensive about that, and told him I'd refrain from it unless the pain exacerbates. I did not mention my suspicions about the lead, because I felt I'd look like a hypochondriac or something. Could it truly be the lead?
Alternately, it could be a pulled muscle in my abdomen, or a stomach ulcer. My bowel movements have been normal, and so has my urinating. If it was pain from lead poisoning, would it be all over my stomach, or concentrated in a single area, as what I'm feeling?
