My 6 week old baby has lots of gas (not all that painful to her, only sometimes) I have to give her mylicon at almost every feeding, also she seems to be congested at times, and I always have to clean out her nose. does she need soy milk, different bottles, or just a different formula all together? She has been on good start for weeks now. thanks!!

  1. My baby had the same problem, only I was mostly breastfeeding. If you find blood in her p**p she is likely allergic to milk protein, if she's just gassy and seems uncomfortable she might just be sensitive to milk/lactose intolerant. I had to cut all dairy out of my diet and when I started supplementing with formula, I had to use Similac Soy and it helped enormously. She used to wiggle and moan in her sleep all night long and it pretty much stopped after I cut the dairy from her diet. Switching to Dr. Brown's bottles helped too, but I stopped using those due to BPA, not sure if they changed that but I'm sure you can find another Anti Colic bottle out there that's BPA free.  Talk to her Dr before switching formula, it's not good to switch too much. Hope this helps.

  2. it really sounds like she has an allergy or is having difficulty digesting this formula, try another kind or soy. Don't make her suffer, it is not normal for her to be so gassy.

  3. I'd ask the pediatrician.

Try Dr. Brown's bottles. They make them in glass and BPA free varieties, should that be a concern of yours. They eliminate gas really well. If that doesn't alleviate the problem, I'd try a different formula--either a different brand, soy, or nutramigen. Before formula changes, try bottle changes.

  4. probably lactose intolerant. ask dr to see if you should switch to soy
