I'm a vegetarian, I've been one since I was 12 (I'm 14 & 1/2 now)...lately I've been thinking about going vegan <for the animals :-) We have 9 hens coming of laying age (their under 6 mo). I would like to eat/cook with the eggs they produce but could you still call me a vegan if I did eat there eggs? I wouldn't eat store-bought eggs or anything deprived from animals for that matter....and the living conditions of the hens we have are nice and there not fed anything to make them lay more eggs (in other words that would be the only thing I would eat from an animal)

Could you still call me a vegan???

  1. If you eat eggs, then you are not vegan period.

  2. No, but who cares? Why is having a particular title so important?

Eat your eggs and call yourself a vegetarian.

  3. Why do you care what you are called? Eat the eggs if you like. There is no moral dillema here.

  4. Eat the delicious eggs.

who cares if you are vegan

I know people who claim to be all veganed out, they claim it's "for the animals" but one guy uses a leather tool belt and one girl had a leather purse....If you really cared about the animals you'd quit penning up those chickens and let them run free.....wouldn't you?

I'd eat the eggs , then I'd eat the chickens... then I'd shoot a rabbit and eat it with the carrots I used to lure him into shooting range...but thats just me

Do what you want...don't let a "label" of being vegan or not persuade your feelings...

.how much leather is in your house?

  5. No. Vegans don't eat eggs.

  6. Eggs and babies are precious to all "mothers", for any creatures. Being a vegan, you strongly contradicting the philosophy.

  7. Your not a vegan if you eat eggs, even if the hens are your pets. Your an ovo-vegetarian. Stop worrying about labels, it sounds like your a caring person.

  8. Nope... If you eat eggs - you'll loose the synonim "vegan"... Even trought eggs r cells, and there is not chicken it the egg... it is still animal product, and vegan prectription is... Not meat and animal products.

But who cares, try it :)

Vegan is very exhausting... I've been on vegan 1year...

Now I'm vegeterian, and eating milk, cheese... Lacto-vegeteran :) But I dont like eggs coz of the Cholesterol... even if Im still young, that really kinds bothering me :)

    Anyway...

Choice is yours... let that dont bothereds you: if they call you, or not call you vegan.

  9. No.

I barely call you a vegetarian.

  10. You cannot be called as a vegan!

  11. No, you would not be a vegan if you ate eggs, regardless of the source. We simply don't do that.

But, most of us are rational enough to realize that eating eggs from your own chickens, provided that you take good care of them and don't slaughter them when they stop producing, is far and away a better choice than eating commercial eggs.

You don't *have* to be a vegan. You can be an ethically-conscious ovo-vegetarian who only eats her own ethically raised eggs, and still be just as big a proponent for animals as any vegan. It's just a word. If you don't fit the definition of it, don't label yourself with it, but really, does it matter?

  12. Nope, but eat what you want...who cares.

  13. No because it does not matter were the stuff came from if it is made by a animal and you eat it like eggs you are not a vegan!

  14. I could call you anything but I probably wont call you vegan.

  15. you undergo food favoritsm crisis!!! :.) eat what you want i can't call you vegan and meaters!! your on the middle stage and its normal!!

  16. No you cannot still consider yourself a vegan...

While you may deem it and it may be a noble cause to be a vegan. You are not saving any animals in the process of doing so, at least any wild animals. (Exception: certain types of fish, crabs, etc.) Most are bread specifically for food purposes, just like the vegan foods which were grown from a seedling only to be killed and eaten in the same such way.

My point is: Don't deprive yourself of meat.

  17. no. vegans are strict. but that doesn't mean you can save a few chickens life by eat eggs from your chickens!

  18. I wouldn't classify you as a vegan if you ate eggs, even if they came from your own hens. I do however, agree that it is ethical to eat eggs from hens that you know are living a good life and able to express natural behaviours. Also, as long as they are unfertilized, I believe it is okay.!

  19. nope

  20. no

  21. Eat the eggs. They are an excellent source of protein. Just ask your family doctor.
