Crazy Woofer Questions!?

I Know This Guy That Has Two 6'' Woofers & They Hit 130db! (No Jokes Aside Really!!) Is That Loud For Woofers That Size? If Thats Loud Then Why Do Most People With 12'' Subs Hit An Average Of 150-160db? Shouldnt It Hit Way More Db Because Their Bigger,Better & Hander More Power? I Guess That Means They Underpower Their Woofers Or Their Not That Good.

I Know This Is Crazy!

What Does Peak Power Do

What Does Rms Do?

I Know Your Supposed To Focus On RMS Not Peak But What Do They Do?

Also Is Cerwin-Vega Car Subwoofers A Good Brand?

  1. I'm not too sure about the db range of the woofers, but I can tell you that rms is the suggested continual usage watts and peak is the maximum the speakers can hit before they blow. You want to keep your woofer output at the rms rate if you want them to last.

In example, a 2000 watt woofer would likely have an rms of 1000 (rms is usually half the peak). For everyday use, you want to run no more than 1000 watts.

  2. yea ive heard two 8" subs hit that much with the trunk open i guess it was the setup

  3. cerwin vega is a very good brand think of max power as in what the amp will put out in perfect conditions while rms is what it will put out durning normal use

  4. yes that is good for 2 6" subs but no it doesnt mean that there underpowering there subs or there just not good it also depends on the enclosure and alot more things but

    peak power means NOTHING

RMS is the actual amount of power your sub/speaker  can handle or what your amp puts out

and Cerwin Vega subs are good
