my mom got a credit card from a department store. can she use that to buy other things or does it have to be from that store

that department store's credit card could have specifications/affiliations on where you could only use it. better check the details of the card. you could try reading the inserts on the letter that comes with the credit card.

If there is a logo on the front of the cards from the major credit card companies (ie: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), it means you can use it anywhere. If you don't see a logo for major credit card companies, its for the store that you got it from only.

she can only buy things from that store on that specific credit card. if she gets another credit card with a visa, mastercard, discover, or american express logo, she can use it almost everywhere. that credit card is only for use at that store.
