Credit report purge?

Ok say I have an outstanding debt from 5 pr 6 years ago. The original creditor has sold it to a company that's basically an acronym on a letterhead. What do you think my chances are if I send a letter of request to validate the original debt? Do the letters actually work?

  1. The original creditor forfeit their right to sue, so, I will wait for 7 years to past. Then submit a letter to the 3 major credit bureaus asking them to remove the debt. In the meantime, do not deal with the collector. If they try to collect on that debt send them a cease and desist letter. Mentioning in your letter that it is your policy not to deal with collectors, only the original creditor and deny that you owe the debt. That keeps the collector from adding their two cents to your credit report.

  2. Yes, and send letters to the credit reporting agencies saying you are disputing the debt (but only if you don't think the debt is legally enforceable).
