Cruise ship hitting something?

Question

Has anyone heard lately (this week) of a cruise ship hitting something where the passengers all had to reload onto another ship? I know it's happened in the past, but hadn't heard of it recently. It's an interesting and long story to explain why we're wondering, so I won't go into those details! If anyone has heard about this, please let me know!

PS-We don't know where this was either, just that it was supposed to be within the last couple days.

There was a ship held by authorities, leaving the passengers stranded on board.

LISBON, Portugal - A cruise ship carrying hundreds of passengers, most of them British tourists, left Portugal's Madeira Islands on Thursday after being impounded for three days, officials said.



The ship pulled out of Funchal, a port on one of the Atlantic Ocean islands, Thursday evening en route to Falmouth, England, said Pedro Cartaxo of the Funchal Harbor Master's office.

More than 400 tourists and about 220 crew members aboard the Dutch-owned MV Van Gogh had been stranded in Funchal since Tuesday while authorities awaited a local court ruling on a financial dispute involving the vessel.

The court had impounded the ship, which was on the final leg of an around-the-world cruise, while it considered the case.

"The ship left with the authorization of the court," Cartaxo said. He said he did not know details of the court decision.

The Madeira Islands are located about 620 miles southwest of Lisbon.

iv heard the same as tony up above,id be very interested also if there has been a cruise ship hitting something,iv just come back from a a cruise and believe me the pilots that steer us into the harbours to dock do an excellent job,they are specialists in there field.
