  1. I've done all of the things that were suggested in here.  However, the cruses I've taken have been completely full so there were not upgrades available.  Get there early and if there is something open you will get it.

  2. if you pick a cabin then you most likely not get a up grade. best way is to book grantee.then any thing above the bottom deck is a upgrade..my first upgrade was a window..

  3. Here's how you get a free upgrade.  Two weeks before you leave, you call the cruise ship company and ask if there are any free upgrades.  They'll move you up for free, but only for an inside cabin because that's the category you have now.  I have a feeling it'll be hard to find two rooms together, but you can always try.  If you want to upgrade to an ocean view room, then you'll pay about $25 and move up that way.  So, just hang in there and wait until two weeks before they leave.  If there are any rooms available, you'll get one.  Have fun!

  4. i am booked for a Feb '08 cruise. my travel agent suggested the "guaranty" for a possible upgrade. she e-mailed me two weeks later stating not only did she get us a free catagory uprade, but she canceled and re-booked since the rates dropped $150 per person and we each also got a $75 on board credit!.

as cruise junkie mentioned, if you booked adjoining rooms and were assigned staterooms already, you will not be able to upgrade for free. how much time do you have before your cruise? check the cancellation policy and see if you can cancel and re-book.

  5. it is a deal offered by the cruise line....you can upgrade which means you can go to a higher deck or to another category like ocean view but it will cost you the extra money....a free upgrade is usually like a sale where they will upgrade you to the next level for free.....this is something you have to wait for the cruise line to offer you though there is no clean cut way to get one....just keep checking back and see if you can catch a sale at any time

  6. Talk to your travel agent... they have connections.  If you booked it directly thru the cruise line, your chances are MUCH smaller.
