I would like to go on a cruise, but I get motion sickness. Can you feel the movement on a large ship?

  1. I get sick on a bus and yet I had a TERRIFIC time on a cruise. The ballasts in the ships reduce lots of the motion and an inside cabin near the middle of the ship reduces the motion you would feel at night.

  2. You can feel the movement usually when the ship is going fast or the waters are really rough. Also I think some of it depends on the person's sensitivity. Every time I cruise, whether I feel the ship moving or not, my equilibrium is thrown off and its hard for me to walk straight. I use OTC bonine and that really helps, I also carry an anti emetic. If I feel nauseous I take that and it helps, CVS has a really good one. Also try choosing a cruise that doesn't have a lot of days at sea, to reduce the amount of time you spend on the water.

  3. On my first cruise ever I was nervous about that, thinking that I would feel the movement of the ship and it would make me sick. At first you have to kind of get used to it. It's not bad at all, but if you really pay attention you can notice it. When you get to the lower part of the decks you can feel it more too. Also if waves are larger, say from a storm or something you can feel it a lot more, esp. on lower decks. Hopefully you won't have to deal with that though. It was only one night, and thankfully the last one, that we had rain and the boat was quite noticeably (sp.) moving, but it eventually calmed down and you got used to it real fast. Just make sure you're stocked up on medicine, and if I remember correctly the little store on the ship had a few items for motion sickness too. You'll def. get used to it all though eventually. Good luck!

  4. the bigger the ship, the less movement your feel.  take motion sickness medicine any how

  5. The best way to stay calm even on the smallest of ships is sea bands. They work almost instantly. And usually the bigger the ship, the less movement. But the ocean is a big place, so you will always feel some movement.

  6. This is hard to answer since you havent said where you going. But I guess that you go on a carebian cruise or a mediteranian one and then the answer is preatty much no. Most of the time you want feel a bit motion on modern skips in calm areas like carebian. But youre on a ship and sometimes you will feel motion and that could make you seasick especially since most of the time you want see the horizon or even the external (you can say that youre in a moving hotell at sea). But then again most of the days will be spent docked on a pir or in a port and then there is no or very little motion even during stormes.

My recomendation is to go on a short cruise or sea travell to see if you like it before taking a longer one. And try to choice a cruise area and time where it isnt storm season and youll be fine. Cruising rules! Johan.

  7. as a travel agent, when you pick you cabin try to pick one mid-ship. Also make sure that it's near the lower level. Tips. if you feel sick while on board eat some crackers or green apples. Before getting on board use sickness patches.

  8. on such a big ship, you don't feel any movement at all, unless you're caught in the middle of a thunderstorm and the waves are really rocky.
