  1. do you want to pay cash for on-board drinks and stuff?

i think they'll still want a credit card as back up but i believe you can pay off your bill with cash on the last day of the sailing. you can't pay cash for your drinks

  2. This is from Carnival's website ...

The following dollar amounts, per guest, are used as a deposit when the Sail & Sign Account is opened:

2-4 day cruises: $100 deposit pp

5-8 day cruises: $200 deposit pp

    9 + day cruises: $350 deposit pp

  3. If you are referring to the cruise fare, a $250 deposit is required to book the cruise with the balance due 75 days prior to sailing.  If you want to pay for the fare w/cash, you will have better luck with visiting a local travel agent that you can give a check or money order to.

If you are referring to using a cash account for incidental purchases while on board the ship, there is no real minium deposit but Carnival charges your on board account for tips the moment you step on.  So if you need a minimum of $70 per person in your on board account and then add the cash that you want to spend while on board.

Tell the boarding agent that you want to use a cash account and on most ships, they will direct you to the pursers office once you board to open the account.  If you want to tip in cash, be sure to tell the purser that so they will remove these charges from your account.

The purser will put a note in your cabin when you reach your cash deposit limit and you can add more money or stop spending.  On the larger ships, you can view your on board account on the TV.

Keep in mind, only the casino accepts cash while your on board.  Everything else you buy is charged to you on-board account so you have to open either a cash or credit account.

  4. Well I have never been on a cruise before, but we are booking a Carnival Cruise for December. You should call Carnival and ask or contact your travel agent, they could help. But from what my friends have told me Carnival is a great ship to cruise on!!
