Crying kitty?

so how do you know if a kitty is crying or just mewoing. does it really cry or is it just a saying?

  1. It's just a saying.

    Crying is generally referring to a distressed meowing, like if you are giving them a bath, or if you lock them up, they will have a more distressed, almost yowling meow.

    But really, it's all meowing..haha


  2. I don't think it's 'just a saying' at all, quite the opposite. My cats, at different times, have very different 'cries.' I typically call it 'crying' if it's such a 'meow' that it causes me to stop what I'm doing and go look to see what all the noise is about. That kind of meowing is often called crying, in my opinion, because when some cats do it you would swear it was a human baby crying from a distance.
