  1. Hmmm.. if only we knew the tempo of the song, i.e. if it was a fast/disco song, a ballad, etcetera.

Duets (male/male, male/female, female/female) are very popular in Spanish pop these days.

My first thought after your description - and after watching the video again - was the song "Tú Recuerdo" by Ricky Martin and La Mari de Chambao. It's the live, MTV Unplugged version which is played (was, a lot) on the radio. Watch the video on YouTube @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgUizOSYL... to see if that's the one.

In that video I can SEE violins are being played but I can't really HEAR them in the song so maybe that's not the one you mean.

La Mari de Chambo (web: http://www.chambao.es/ ) is Spanish and one of my favorite singers. She has a kind of desperate tone in her songs. Just a beautiful voice. Ricky Martin (web: http://www.rickymartin.com/ ), from Puerto Rico, starts this song out and La Mari joins him a little into the song.

http://www.los40.com/ will give you some idea of what's hot in Spain at the moment. But be forewarned, probably half of the Top40 songs in Spain are of English language. Odd, huh!?
